This Psalm has been called the Psalm of the Covenant. In it David is promised that his throne would be everlasting.
In this second and concluding section of Psalm 89 (verses 27-52) the Psalmist is accusing God of failing to fulfil His promise to establish David’s throne forever through his descendants.
The King’s reign is shortened and his kingdom is embarrassingly defeated by their enemies.
