In this beautiful elegy the Psalmist prays that God will restore His favour upon Israel.
Here, Israel is referred to as a fruitful vine transplanted from Egypt and carefully tended by God. Consequently the vine flourished profusely in all directions.But alas, the prosperity of the nation brought apostasy and rebellion against God. Subsequently, the nation abandoned God and suffered neglect and enemy destruction for their actions. However, all hope is not lost when we, like them, abandon God our Saviour pleads to our hearts.
