The author is still encouraging his hearers about the importance of the truth, and how to deal with those who will attempt to twist and manipulate God's word. What can we learn from the experiences of three OT examples of rebels against God? What motivates such rebelliousness and how can we avoid falling into the same traps? What help do we need to suceed?
