This Psalm is a poetic account of one seeking to understand the reason why God appears to have abandoned His people when they desperately need Him.
The Psalmist overcomes his melancholy feelings by remembering how God has demonstrated His love and mercy towards His chosen people throughout their history.
God is just as loving and merciful towards us today. Irrespective of our feelings and how things may appear in our lives. God is with His us and we can completely trust Him.
