In the beautiful pray in Psalms 72 king David describes the desired character and nature of a future king. Under inspiration David has prayed that the ideal king will make decisions not according to his own will but according to the perfect will of God.
He goes on to request that the king will be an advocate for the poor and a peacemaker. These noble and manly characteristics are what the Psalmist's desires for his own son Solomon who will soon ascend the throne as the next king of Judah.
The predictions regarding the reign of king Solomon are intertwined with Messianic applications which refer to Christ and His everlasting kingdom. In the conclusion of this prayer God is blessed and glorified as David declares, Psalm 72:18 Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. 19 And blessed be His glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with His glory; Amen, and Amen. 20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.
So whether or not you are a parent desiring God’s blessings to flow upon your children as they faithfully strive to accomplish His will for their lives, you are invited to join us on Prayers of Hope. Where we too can make our prayer requests to our Heavenly Father and offer thanksgiving and praise for the blessings that we along with our loved-one will receive from Him.
