This week we will being analysing the first part of a two part study of Psalms 89. The Psalm has also been called A Psalm of the Covenant and iking David t begins on a high note of worshipful Praise to God; KJV Psalms 89:1 I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all generations.
Then the Psalmist recalls God's Covenant with him stating, KJV Psalms 89:3-4I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn unto David My servant, Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah. This Covenant like all God's Promises can only be fulfilled when the other party or parties involved in the relationship are obedient and faithful to fulfill their requirements.
Unfortunately the descendants of David failed to keep their part of this Covenant. But, the love of God could not fail and God sent His Holy Son of God Jesus Christ, to succeeded where men would not so that God's Words are accomplished (Luke 1:31-33). Therefore this Prayer of Praise rightly continues in the Spirit of Adoration to God, KJV Psalms 89:6, 8 For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD? ... O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto Thee? or to Thy faithfulness round aboutThee?
This first section concludes in verse 26 where King David reveals the total dependent relationship which existed between him and his Heavenly Father, KJV Psalms 89:26 He shall cry unto Me, Thou art my Father, my God, and the Rock of my Salvation.
Please join us on Prayers of Hope as we savour the sweetness of the our Heavenly Father's great love for us, His earthly children.
