Psalms 74 was written by Asaph, which may be referring to the descendants from this tribe rather than the individual. This is a Psalm of contemplation which expresses sorrow and lamentation at the capture of Jerusalem by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar.
There is a detailed description of the misery that the Jews suffered at this time, and also the total destruction of the magnificent Temple which was built by Solomon.
